Bolpur: On the eve of the visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina to Santiniketan, a teenage boy has been injured by bullet today in neighbouring Nanoor area.
This happened following a clash between two factions of Trinamool at Nimra village under Nanoor police station. The clash took place pertaining to a dispute over getting a contract for digging up a pond in the village with government funds.
The injured boy Mithun Sheikh (15) was passing by the area when he got trapped between the warring factions and was hit by a bullet in his jaw. Sheikh was rushed to Bolpur Sub-divisional Hospital by his family and neighbours.
Doctors referred Sheikh to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital as his condition is critical. Police have set up a picket in the village to ward off any further violence as this will lead to embarrassment during the visit by the dignitaries to Santiniketan tomorrow.
