Howrah, 02 October: THE erstwhile Bally Municipality that has now been merged to the Howrah Municipal Corporation will go to the polls on 03 October.
The total number of wards where the vote will be taken is 16 ~ from ward number 51- 66. The polling hour is 7 am to 5 pm. The counting of votes will be on 07 October.
The last time civic elections were held in Bally was in 2010; back then the number of wards was 35. Of them, the Left had won in 32 and Trinamool in only 03. Now after being merged to the Howrah Municipal Corporation, the number of wards has got reduced to 16.
Left parties this time has fielded seven new faces after its outgoing Bally Municipality chairman Arunabha Lahiri and the names of some outgoing councillor’s featured in the Rs 21.80 crore unaccounted cash haul from the house of the civic body’s assistant engineer Pranab Adhikari.
