Kolkata: Kolkata Mayor and state fire minister, Sovan Chatterjee, continues to lose one after another portfolio both in his party Trinamool and in the government over the anomaly in his private life.

In the latest instance, Trinamool has today removed him as the president of the party’s South 24-Parganas district committee. He has been replaced by Subhasish Chakraborty.

Not only this! Clipping his wings further, Firhad Hakim and Abhishek Banerjee have been made co-observers for the district. Until today, Chatterjee was the sole district observer for South 24-Parganas.

The decision has been announced by none other than party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after chairing a meeting of Trinamool core committee at the state headquarters today.

Prior to this, the CM had taken away the environment ministry portfolio from Chatterjee after his discord with wife Ratna Chatterjee reached the court and his friendship with college teacher Baisakhi Banerjee surfaced.

While Chatterjee’s wings have been clipped further today, transport minister Suvendu Adhikari has gained weight in the party. Adhikari has been made a co-observer for Nadia, Jhargram, and West Midnapore. He is already the observer for Murshidabad and Malda.

In case of Nadia, Jhargram, Adhikari will work as a co-observer with Partha Chatterjee. As regards West Midnapore, he will shoulder the charge jointly with the party’s all-India secretary Subrata Bakshi.

Abhishek Banerjee has also gained importance in the party organisation. He will now be the join observer with Bakshi for Cooch Behar district.
