Kolkata: Chief of Army Staff, Gen Bipin Rawat, arrived at Panagarh in West Burdwan today to review the operational preparedness of Brahmastra Corps.
This Corps is the most important army formation in eastern India as regards logistics and artilleries to safeguard the eastern and northeastern frontiers of the country.
During his visit, today, the Chief of Army staff interacted with senior military commanders and took a first-hand assessment at the ground level. He was accompanied by Lt Gen Abhay Krishna, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command headquartered in Kolkata.
The Army chief was briefed by Lt Gen PN Rao, General Officer Commanding of Brahmastra Corps on the operational and administrative preparedness of the formation.
Gen Rawat has appreciated the high standards of operational readiness of the formation and also expressed his utmost confidence over the capability of the Corps to meet emerging challenges.
