Kolkata, 31 December: TRINAMOOL MP and actor Tapas Pal, who was arrested by CBI in the alleged money laundering by Rose Valle Group, has been remanded in three days CBI custody.

CBI officers had set out from Kolkata to Bhubaneswar in Odisha along with Pal last night as the main litigation against Rose Valle Group had originated there. On reaching Bhubaneswar today morning, he was questioned by CBI officers before producing him in a special CBI court there in the noon.

The hearing continued for about 45 minutes, during which the judge had a look into the case diary and spoke to the investigating officers. As the proceedings went on, 58-year-old Pal broke into tears, making the judge to ask him take a seat. The MP’s wife, Nandini Pal, was present in the court room.

A little later, the judge remanded the Trinamool MP in three days CBI custody and set 03 January as the next date of hearing.

The actor-turned-politician was arrested yesterday afternoon after near four-hour interrogation by at the CBI regional office at Salt Lake in Kolkata. Pal, who was a director in Rose Valley Group’s film wing, is accused of having benefited financially from the near Rs 25,000 crore that the company had allegedly collected from people under various fictitious schemes.
