Kolkata: THE SDPO of Islampur in North Dinajpur, Kunwar Bhushan Singh, has been transferred with immediate effect.
The move is believed to be the result of the breach in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s security cover when she was addressing a public event at Hemtabad in the district on 22 February. Hemtabad falls in the jurisdiction of Islampur sub-division. [READ: Woman waiting justice for dad’s killing forays onto Mamata Banerjee stage]

Prior to him, the state home department had transferred a DSP and an inspector of police over the lapse. Two police constables, who were deployed at CM’s event, had been taken off duty pending the final investigation.
