Siliguri: BAGDOGRA Airport in Siliguri today installed a sanitary napkin vending machine in its restroom for the benefit of women fliers and staff.
The move makes Bagdogra the first airport in Bengal to have installed a sanitary napkin vending machine. Two other operational airports in the state at Kolkata and Durgapur are yet to take the initiative.
The vending machine at Bagdogra Airport was today inaugurated by Namrata Sahay, local unit the president of the women’s wing of Airports Authority of India. The machine will make sanitary napkins available round the clock in the airport restrooms providing relief to women during menstrual emergencies while ensuring total privacy.
The initiative makes absolute sense as women account for about 50 per cent of the fliers and staff.
