Kalyanmoy Ganguly, the administrator of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), today said that the prohibition on mobile phones was intended at maintaining the sanctity of the examination.
WBBSE has asked the examinees to carry mobile phones to the exam venue at all. If an examinee is found violating the instruction, his or her mobile phone would be confiscated.
As regards the invigilators and other teaching and non-teaching staff associated with the exam, they can carry their mobile phones to the venue, but shall have to despite the same to the head of the exam centre before the exam commences.
They will not be allowed to take mobile phones inside the exam hall and if found violating, the phone would be confiscated by the centre head or exam supervisors deputed by WBBSE.
Maintaining that all preparations were complete for fare and peaceful conduct of the exam, Ganguly said that no examinee would be allowed to leave the venue before the exam ends at 3 pm every day.
“An examinee is allowed to leave the exam hall after one hour into the exam, but would have to wait outside the exam hall until the exam gets over. He or she would be allowed to leave the venue only after 3 pm,” he said.
To negate the possibility of cheating, WBBSE has arranged for videography at a number of exam venues that have a history of such activities.
