Bolpur: A BJP leader in Bengal has threatened launching Kerala-style political revenge in the state and has cautioned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that her nephew Abhishek Banerjee could become a target.
Nirmal Chandra Mondal, a Birbhum district unit leader of the BJP, said this while addressing a protest meeting at the district headquarters Suri.
The meeting was organised bang opposite to the district police superintendent’s office demanding the arrest of a Trinamool leader who had allegedly attacked a BJP Kisan Morcha meeting at Khoyrasole on 29 July.
“In Kerala, we are fighting the CPI-M: if they kill one BJP cadre we murder their two comrades. We will soon start this in Bengal too. Didi, what will happen if your nephew gets killed? People say that he is more than your nephew!” Mondal said to the applause of BJP cadres.
Mamata Banerjee is popularly known as Didi and her nephew is Abishek Banerjee, who is a young Lok Sabha MP and the president of Trinamool’s youth wing. In the recent years, Abhishek’s clout is growing in the party and many are viewing him as Mamata’s heir apparent in Trinamool.
