Kolkata: BENGAL CID has sent a notice to the Centre-owned power generation company Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) over an alleged scam by a top-ranking official to the tune of Rs 1,600 crore.
The move comes in response to a written complaint that the employees union of DVC submitted to the CID requesting a probe into the alleged scam. The union had served a similar complaint to DVC authorities but allegedly no action was taken.
The finer details of the corruption charges are not known as the CID is not willing to share anything more at this point.
In its notice, CID has sought to know from DVC whether the company conducted an internal probe into the corruption charges and if so, what the findings of the probe were.
Sources in CID said that the notice was part of its preliminary investigating and the outcome will decide whether an FIR should be registered against the concerned DVC official. DVC being a Central PSU, the state CID shall have to tread carefully.
