Behrampore: The wife of former president of Congress’ Bengal unit and Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has passed away. Deceased Arpita Chowdhury was only 48-year-old.

Arpita had undergone a surgery a few months ago but recuperated after this. Recently she was suffering from a chest infection that led to breathing difficulties.

Because of this, Arpita was admitted to a private nursing home at their native place Behrampore in Murshidabad district.

On Tuesday morning she breathed her last the nursing even as her husband was away in Delhi to attend the Parliament.

On learning about wife’s death, the MP flew back to Kolkata later in the day and then went to Behrampore. On being contacted, he said that he is in no mood to make a comment of this.

In 2007, Arpita had attempted suicide due to alleged differences with Adhir Ranjan but survived due to timely medical intervention.

Before this, in 2006, their teenage daughter Shreyashi Chowdhury (18) had attempted suicide by jumping from their residential building in Kolkata.
