Kolkata: CPI-M Bengal state secretary and former minister Surjya Kanta Mishra today referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘haramzada’ (illegitimately born son).

Mishra was addressing a public meeting of the Left-backed United Central Refugee Council (UCRC) at Rani Rashmani Avenue in Kolkata, where he made the comment.

“After coming to power, they had asked who is Ramzada (born to Lord Ram) and who is haramzada. I am saying, Mr. Modi, you are the haramzada,” the CPI-M state secretary said in his speech. Later asked by reporters, Mishra clarified that he has indeed called the PM ‘haramzada.’

‘Ramazada’ and ‘haramzada’ had made their entry into the Indian political vocabulary when the BJP Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had in 2014 had assigned the latter tag to Congress in a public rally.
