Asansol: AN elderly couple, who lived with their son and his wife, has been found dead in mysterious circumstances at their residence at Benachity in Durgapur.
The deceased have been identified as Shankar Dey (65) and Suchitra Dey (60) residents of Benachity’s Subhashpally locality.
Shankar owned a shop of plastic goods at Durgapur’s Chandidas Bazar. Wife Suchitra had been suffering from renal ailments and was on dialysis for the past few days.
As claimed by their daughter-in-law, the elderly couple was in the habit of waking up early in the morning but today they weren’t coming out of their bedroom till late in the morning. This made her enter the room only to find mother-in-law Suchitra lying dead on the bed.
Father-in-law Shankar was nowhere in the room. Almost simultaneously, the immediate neighbour of the family spotted Shankar hanging from a tree located on the backside of the house.
On being alerted, police arrived soon and sent the two dead bodies for post-mortem. There were no visible injury marks on any of the dead bodies. Cops have, for now, registered an FIR for unnatural deaths and are quizzing other members of the family for a clue.
