Kolkata: The seven-phase Lok Sabha polls announced by the Election Commission of India (EC) will kick off on 11 April in Bengal and conclude on 19 May.

There are 23 districts in Bengal and the number of Lok Sabha seats in 42. In the first phase on 11 April Thursday, voting will take place in two seats ~ Alipurduar, Cooch Behar.

In the second phase on 18 April Thursday, polling will be conducted in three seats ~ Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Raiganj.

In the third phase on 23 April Tuesday, the voting will be for five seats ~ Balurghat, Malda North, Malda South, Jangipur, Murshidabad.

In the fourth phase on 29 April Monday, the polling will be for eight seats ~ Behrampore, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Burdwan East, Burdwan-Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur, Birbhum.

The fifth phase on 6 May Monday, there will be voting for seven seats ~ Bongaon, Uluberia, Serampore, Hooghly, Arambag, Barrackpore, Howrah.

In the sixth phase on 12 May Sunday, polling will be conducted in eight seats ~ Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Midnapore, Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur.

In the seventh and final phase on 19 May Sunday, will vote the remaining nine seats in the state ~ Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Joynagar, Mathurapur, Diamond Harbour, Jadavpur, Kolkata South, Kolkata North.

The commencement of filing of nominations, last date for filing nominations, the date for scrutiny, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will vary from district to district depending on the phase when they are going to the ballots.

The number of voters in Bengal, as on 14 January, is 6,98,59,736 and out of this, 3,39,75,979 are female voters. The number of polling stations is 78,799.
