Kolkata: BENGAL mountaineer Satyarup Siddhanta has scaled Ojos del Salado, the highest active volcano in the world located on the border of Argentina and Chile.

Satyarup, along with two other mountaineers from abroad, reached the summit of Ojos del Salado at 9.30 pm IST on Monday (15 January). He announced the news in a tweet.

“You may say i am a dreamer but i am not the only one. Summitted ojos del salado,” the tweet reads.

With this feat, Satyarup becomes the second Indian to scale Ojos del Salado. On 16 December last year, he had scaled Mt Vinson Massif, the highest mountain in Antarctica and the remotest in the world.

This has made him the only Bengali civilian to scale all the seven highest peaks in the world spread over the seven continents. [READ: First Bengali in elite club of mountaineers scaling all 7 top peaks of the world]
