Teenagers arrested on rape charge
Asansol, 2 September: THREE teenage boys were arrested on charges of raping a Class V student in Par Ujjirpur village under Jamalpur police station in Burdwan district. One of them is a student of class X; the rest two are school-dropouts.
They were sent to Juvenile home until 15 September after police produced them before a Burdwan court on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident occurred on 18 August when the girl was lured to a cowshed near her house, where the class X student allegedly raped her as his two friends stood guard.
The girl kept mum as the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she told her parents. But as the girl subsequently developed physical problems, she told her mother about the incident, who in turn lodged a police complaint on Monday.
