Behrampore: In a span of merely seven days one more villager has died of bullet allegedly fired by the Border Security Force (BSF) at Raninagar in Murshidabad on the Bangladesh border.
The body of Mihir Mondal (45) was found this morning on a paddy field not very far from his residence at Char Harudanga village. There was a bullet hole in the left of his chest.
Mondal’s family say that he went to till his paddy field at dawn and was shot dead by BSF jawans. The family and neighbours held a demonstration in front of Raninagar police station later in the day demanding action against BSF.
Police have said that they were investigating as to who fired the bullet at Mondal. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
Earlier on 3 July, three bullet-riddled dead bodies of suspected rustlers were found at Raninagar’s Sheikpara village. On that occasion that villagers had alleged that BSF killed the three men.
