Kolkata: THE house of a Trinamool MLA has been burgled in the heart of Kolkata with police team supposed to be on night patrol not getting even a wind.
The incident has taken place in Kolkata’s New Market area in the house of MLA Swarnakamal Saha. Saha is an MLA from Entally (Sealdah and adjacent areas) Assembly constituency.
Saha today said that his house near Crown Cinema was burgled by a youth around 2 am today. He and other members of the family found out this after the thief had fished his job.
The thief climbed up to the second floor holding the water pipe and then sneaked into the house by pushing a grille door. He then stole laptops, mobile phones, still cameras, and some cash from the rooms occupied by his sons and daughter.
Hearing the sound, his elder son woke up and raised an alarm. This made the thief flee in a hurry. Saha at once called up New Market police station. The cops came and found a knife left behind by the thief.
Police have collected the footage from CCTV cameras installed at Saha’s house wherein the youth could be seen climbing up the building.
