Kolkata: The CBI today subjected noted producer of Bengali films and the head of production house Shree Venkatesh Films (SVF) Shrikant Mohta to marathon grilling in connection with the multi-crore Rose Valley Scam.

The CBI had last week sent a notice to Mohta, who is his 50’s, to appear before it for questioning on his connection to the scam-hit company which is accused of collecting several thousand of crores rupees from people under dubious schemes.

Responding to this, accompanied by two lawyers, Mohta reached the CBI’s regional office CGO Complex at Salt Lake around 3 pm. CBI officers then quizzed him for nearly two-and-a-half hours.

Neither CBI nor Mohta has come out with a statement as regards why was he exactly summoned and what transpired during the questioning.

But sources claimed that CBI is trying to find out the details pertaining to SVF selling telecast rights for 70 films to Rose Valley’s TV channel in 2010 for Rs 25-crore. Rose Valley chairman Gautam Kundu, who is now in jail, had moved court against SVF for allegedly not honouring the deal and providing them only 30 films.

CBI has today asked Mohta as to who introduced him to Kundu and how the deal was inked. It wants to know was there any other beneficiary of the deal and hence, has asked Mohta to furnish all documents pertaining to the deal at the earliest.
