Kolkata, 30 September: NETMEDS.COM, a Chennai based online medicine retailing firm with pan India service has announced setting up its distribution facility in Kolkata by March next year.
The CEO of the firm Pradeep Dadha on Wednesday said that the move is aimed at catering to the growing demand for medicine in the eastern region.
“The region sees a large number of patients travelling to other cities to avail treatment and they find it rather challenging to get the prescribed medicines in local market back home,” Dadha said. “While we are already supplying retail medicines throughout India against the requests placed online, we plan to set up our physical operations in Kolkata to ensure a faster delivery throughout eastern India.”
But not only Kolkata, he said that the company has plans to expand to another 15 metro and non-metro cities in India in the next 12-18 months.
On its online portal, Netmeds offers a selection of around 50,000 stock keeping units of both prescription and over-the-counter medicines that it supplies across India from its hub in Chennai. A buyer is required to either upload a prescription to its website or place the order by surfing through its entire catalogue of medicines on its mobile app.
“Once a user has uploaded their prescription, it is carefully examined by our pharmacists for proper dosage, duration and other points of validity, further ensuring the patient of the best possible outcome,” Dadha added. “We have tied-up with India Post to deliver the ordered medicine across India.”
