Midnapore, 12 October: A child has been born in East Midnapore district with three legs and two male organs. The baby took birth at Kanthi Sub-divisional Hospital today morning.

The Pal couple, to whom the baby has been born, hails from Gopalpur village under Marishda police station area. The expecting woman was admitted to the government-run hospital last night and she gave birth to the male child early this morning through normal delivery.

But the doctors were stunned to find that the baby has an additional leg towards its back and has an extra male organ as well. He has also been born under-weight measuring only about 200 grams.

Doctors at Kanthi Sub-divisional Hospital has stated that in order to make the baby survive, urgent surgeries need to be performed to do away with the third leg and second male organ. But the hospital lacks facilities to handle such a critical procedure and has advised the couple to relocate to some super-speciality hospital in Kolkata.

According to latest information, the couple has started for Kolkata with their baby and plans to try their luck first at SSKM Hospital. But the worry for them is that the couple are wage labourers and will barely be able to meet necessary expenses.
