Asansol: A class-X student has died of bullet injury in a school at Ketugram in East Burdwan.
This happened today morning soon at Ketugram’s Dadhia Gopaldas High School. It is a government aided higher secondary school.
The deceased has been identified as Kalim Sheikh, a student of class-X. He was a resident of Ratanpur area in the neighbourhood of the school.
His teachers and fellow students said that Sheikh had attended the school prayer and then went to the washroom. A little later, a gunshot was heard from the washroom.
This made the teachers and staff rush to the spot only to find the class-X boy lying in the washroom floor in a pool of blood. There was a bullet injury on a side of his forehead and an improvised country-made pistol was lying nearby.
The school authorities at once informed Ketugram police station. The news also reached the family and neighbours of the boy. A police team and the villagers arrived soon.
Police retrieved the dead body and sent it for post-mortem. Cops said that they suspect it to be a case of suicide but are puzzled as regards the motive and as to from where the class-X boy procured the pistol. Police have plans to talk to his family for a clue.
Meanwhile, the classes at the school were suspended for the day following the shocking incident.
