Kolkata: Metro Railway will deploy 350 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, including specially trained commandos, at different Metro stations in the city to deter untoward incidents during the Trinamool’s annual rally at Esplanade on 21 July.
This is because, with a large number of Trinamool supporters from the suburbs of Kolkata availing Metro trains, many of them for the first time, to reach the venue, Metro Railway authorities are wary of trouble.
Apart from the RPF personnel, 104 Metro Railway Police personnel will be stationed at the 14 Metro stations ~ Dumdum, Shyambazar, Sovabazar, MG Road, Chandni Chowk, Esplanade, Park Street, Maidan, Rabindra Sadan, Netaji Bhavan, JD Park, Kalighat, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar, and Kavi Subhash.
This will be in addition to the 250 police personnel who remain posted at different Metro stations on a routine basis. That’s not all! Three lady officers and 10 lady constables will roam through the Metro stations to deal with female nuisance makers.
