Kalyani / Kolkata: International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) today dedicated a daylong prayer at its headquarters Mayapur in Nadia for the peace of the souls of paramilitary jawans killed by militants at Pulwama in Kashmir on Thursday.
ISKCON holds a Hare Krishna kirtan (chanting) 24X7 throughout the year in Bhajan Kutir, a straw hut, where its founder Swami Prabhupada once lived at Mayapur.
Today, the kirtan was dedicated for the martyred CRPF jawans, two of whom ~ Bablu Santra and Sudip Biswas ~ hailed from Bengal. In fact, Biswas is from Nadia district itself.
The kirtan and prayers today were led by senior devotee Sripad Alay Govind Das.
ISKCON devotees from many countries participated in the daylong special prayers, spokesperson Subroto Das informed.
Visitors, guests and, pilgrims who landed up at the ISKCON headquarters today by coincidence, also joined in the kirtan.
Lamps were lit praying for the brave-heart soldiers and for strength to their bereaved families in this difficult time.
