Kolkata, 14 August: THE Publishers and Booksellers Guild has started accepting applications from interested publishers, book sellers and little magazine groups desiring to put up stalls at the 40th Kolkata International Book Fair slated for January 2016.
According to Guild general secretary Tridib Chatterjee, the last date to submit applications is 19 September.
“Those intending to participate would have to apply in their letter head enclosing required documents such as the latest copy of trade licence, book list or copies of latest published magazine, full address and the desired stall size etc,” Mr Chatterjee said, adding that the selection process would start in November and shortlisted participants would be informed thereafter.

The last edition of the Kolkata International Book Fair saw the participation of as many as 472 book stalls, besides outlets selling food and handicrafts etc. Mr Chatterjee hopes that in the next Fair, the number will be more.
In the next edition, France will be the focal theme country of the Fair and the Fair will kick off according to its fixed schedule on 27 January and continue until the 7th of the following month. For the past few years, Milan Mela ground off E M Bypass is the fixed venue for the Kolkata Book Fair.
The Guild general secretary said that several noted authors from France have been invited, but he declined to divulge the names as yet.
