Kolkata: ATK, the home ISL team from Kolkata, finally pocketed a win in the ongoing Durand Cup by defeating another home team Mohammedan Sporting.

Due to the torrential downpour since afternoon, the match at Salt Lake Stadium kicked off at 6.30 pm, half-an-hour behind the schedule. Even during the entire 90-minute play it rained constantly but the match went on.

Two-minutes into the match, a sudden attack from ATK culminated into a goal from the boots of William Pauliankhum.

Mohammedan got a few chances to level the score but failed to convert any. It was a hard day at work for the ATK goalkeeper Avilash Paul who made some brilliant saves denying then rival an all-important equaliser.

Thus, when the final whistle blew, the scoreboard displayed 1: 0 in favour of ATK. This notwithstanding, the campaign of both Mohammedan and ATK has ended for this Durand Cup. The group topper, Mohun Bagan, has comfortably qualified for the semis.

Mohun Bagan will, however, play their final group match tomorrow 17 August against the Indian Navy. The match is at 6.30 pm at Salt Lake Stadium.

At the same stadium, Bengaluru FC will meet Jamshedpur FC in another group match at 3 pm. On the other hand, FC Goa will play Real Kashmir at Kalyani Stadium in Nadia.
