Kolkata: Police have arrested a drug peddler from Bhowanipore in south Kolkata who allegedly sold narcotics to English medium school students in the city through a WhatsApp group.

Musabbir Mannan, 30, was picked up last night from his residence after the cops found 35 LSD blot papers and 7 grams MDMA from his house. The recovery is worth about Rs 1.5-lakh.

The arrest comes by quizzing three college students whom Kolkata Police arrested with LSD and MDMA drugs on 27 June.

Musabbir is a glazing carpenter by profession and is a dropout from a famed English medium school in Kolkata. By interrogating him, investigators have learned that he used his past contacts in the school to float a WhatsApp group and then started selling drugs to present and past students.

Several students born to rich parents and studying in upscale English medium schools in the city have been his customers. Musabbir was procuring the narcotics from Bangalore and for this, he made use of a city youth who is studying engineering in a college in Bangalore.

Investigators have started tracking the youth, who too may face arrest soon, sources said.
