Asansol: A trader from Durgapur has died in Jammu & Kashmir while returning from a pilgrimage to Amarnath.
Shibabrata Ghosh (60) of Mayabazar at Durgapur was among a 10-member team of pilgrims from Durgapur and nearby Faridpur area who had set out on the pilgrimage on 30 June.
Braving all odds, the team managed to make it to the Amarnath Temple and then started climbing back. But on Wednesday at dawn, Ghosh suffered a cardiac arrest a little after arriving at the Panchtarni base camp. He died on the spot.
Fellow pilgrims called up his family in Durgapur and shared the tragic news. “They have told us that my father was supposed to take a helicopter to Baltal later today but he suffered the cardiac arrest before that. The challenge for us now is to bring his mortal remains,” said Arijit Ghosh, the son of the deceased trader.
