Kolkata, 11 August: LT GEN Praveen Bakshi, who recently took over as the General Officer Commanding-In-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Army Command, is currently on a tour of the northeast as part of a review and coordination exercise.

He landed at the Borjhar airport in Guwahati yesterday where he was received by Lt Gen Sarath Chand, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s 4 Corps.

During this visit, Lt Gen Bakshi will hold meetings with top level civil and Army functionaries in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

After reaching Guwahati yesterday, he called on Assam Governor PB Acharya at Raj Bhavan and met Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at the latter’s official residence. They discussed the security situation in Assam and the role being played by the Army to contain militancy in the state.

Lt Gen Bakshi then left for Meghalaya for a meeting with the Air Force Commander   at   Eastern Air Command headquarters in Shillong.
