Kolkata: Police in Kolkata have arrested an elderly man for murdering his father and wife.

This has happened at China Town at Tangra in east Kolkata. The murders took place yesterday (23 August) night and police made the arrest today.

The arrested man, a Chinese, has been identified as Lee Wan Sang (66). He killed his father Lee Ka Sang (89) and wife Hau Mi Ha (60). The family has been residents of China Town for over six decades.

Last night, Lee Ka and Hau Mi were found murdered on the front yard of their house. Son Lee Wan had reportedly gone out and on his return found the main gate to the house bolted from inside.

He alerted the neighbor and made a youth scale the boundary wall and open the gate. Lee Wan pretended shock and informed the police.

Police found a blood-stained iron bucket lying near the dead bodies. There was critical blunt injury on the face and head of the elderly man and his daughter-in-law. It became clear that the killer had hit them with the bucket.

Police sent the dead bodies for post-mortem to NRS Medical College and Hospital and began questioning Lee Wan. Joint commissioner (crime) Murli Dhar Sharma himself visited the crime scene.

Following overnight questioning, Lee Wan confessed to having murdered his wife and father. This is apparently due to his extramarital affair over which his wife often used to fight with him.

Last night, during one such quarrel, Lee Wan repeatedly hit his wife in the head with the bucket. His aged father saw this and thus he killed him in the same fashion.

To make the murders appear an outsider job, he then bolted the main gate and left the house by scaling the boundary wall.
