Midnapore: Police in West Midnapore have registered a suo-motu FIR against Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh for instigating people to attack the men in uniform.

Ghosh, while addressing a public meeting at Keshiary on 12 December, had threatened that BJP workers will peel off the skin of policemen if they try to destabilise the Gram Panchayats where the saffron party is in power.

Taking cognisance of this, the police have lodged an FIR at the Keshirary police station against Ghosh under Indian Penal Code sections 505 (statements conducing public mischief), 506 (criminal intimidation) and, 120B (criminal conspiracy).

Reacting to the development, Ghosh said that when Trinamool-backed miscreants attacked his car in the recent times, the state police failed to act against them.

But now that he merely said something in a political meeting, he has been booked.

“I am not scared. We will fight this both legally and politically,” the state BJP president said.
