Asansol: A teenage boy, who was a student of class X, has died in East Burdwan district on being hit by a classmate with a water bottle at a tuition class.
The mishap took place at Mahindar villager under Jamalpur police station area on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Sayan Ghosh (16).
Private tutor Paromita Samui used to impart private tuition at the residence of businessman Tarun Koley at Mahindar village. Apart from Koley’s daughter, three of her classmates, including Sayan, used to attend the tuition class.
On Thursday afternoon Sayan went to the Koley household for the tuition around 5.30 pm. Within 30 minutes or so, the private tutor called up his father Basanta Ghosh and informed that Sayan has been taken ill.
The father rushed in and found his son unconscious. He, with the help of Samui and others, at once rushed Sayan to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Doctors declared the boy brought dead.
The private tutor has informed that Sayan was playing with his three classmates with water bottles. During this, a classmate playfully hit him in the chest with a bottle and this made Sayan faint and collapse to the floor.
Not convinced with the version, the deceased boy’s father has lodged an FIR against the tutor and the three classmates at Jamalpur police station. Police have started a probe but are yet to arrest anyone in this connection.
