Kolkata: Somnath Chatterjee, a former Speaker of the Lok Sabha, has been hospitalised with age-related ailments.
The 89-year-old former veteran politician of the CPI-M has been keeping unwell for a while. He is mainly suffering from breathing difficulties and severe weakness, sources said.
With his health condition deteriorating drastically, Chatterjee was today taken out from his Raja Basanta Roy Road off Rash Behari Avenue to a private nursing home in central Kolkata. He has been kept under the observation of a medical board at the nursing home.
Neither his family nor the doctors have divulged details of his ailments and health condition as yet.
