Barasat: National level table tennis player, Soumyajit Ghosh (25), is up for legal trouble on the family front once more.
His wife, Tulika Ghosh nee Dutta (19), has lodged an FIR against him and five of his family members accusing them of subjecting her to mental and physical torture.
The FIR has been lodged at Barasat police station in North 24-Parganas, which happens to be Tulika’s native place. She herself disclosed this to newspersons today.
Soumyajit married Tulika last August after a five-month-long legal tussle when she accused him of having physical relationship promising marriage.
But as he denied marrying her, Tulika lodged an FIR last March accusing the table tennis player of rape.
As a result, Soumyajit was dropped from the Indian squad that went to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He later resolved the dispute with his estranged girlfriend and married her on 3 August.
But in just about five months of marriage, the girlfriend-turned-wife has again taken a legal step against the young sportsman.
In her latest FIR, Tulika has accused Soumyajit and her in-laws, who live in Siliguri, of coercing her into signing some legal documents. It is not clear at this point, what sort of legal documents she has been allegedly forced to sign.
Tulika has alleged that when she declined to sign, she was assaulted by her husband and his family members. Because of this, she has left her husband’s Siliguri house and returned to her parents’ house at Barasat.
