The Goa team defeated Chennai City FC 2:1 with most of the action coming in the first half of the match itself.
Just ten minutes into the game, Liston Colaco scored against Chennai giving Goa the lead.
But after this, as Goa appeared a bit relaxed, Mashoor Shereef head the ball right into the net and scored the equaliser for Chennai in the 18th minute.
It took a while for Goa to get its acts together and in the 31st minute, Nestor Dias scored the second goal for the team. The scoreline stood at 2:1 in favour of Goa.
The adrenaline rush until the half-time saw a contrast in the second half that passed off goalless.
Chennai City FC tried hard to score an equaliser but all in vain as the ball went over the bars or landed into the hands of the Goa goalkeeper.
The final whistle blew announcing Goa’s victory over Chennai. Goa will now meet Real Kashmir FC on 17 August in a deciding match for Group-C.
Chennai City FC will play their final match for this edition’s Durand Cup against defending champion Army Green on 18 August. Both matches will be played at Kalyani.
