Kolkata: A section of guardians today blocked the AJC Bose Road near Moulali in Kolkata protesting the hike in fee by a convent school.
This after the principal of the Convent of Our Lady of Providence Girls’ High School allegedly declined to meet the guardians for a discussion on fees.
According to the aggrieved guardians, the school has this year hiked the admission fee to Rs 15,000 from what was Rs 12,000 last year. This apart, the monthly tuition fee has been increased by about Rs 400.
The guardians alleged that the school management was increasing fees every year but are not augmenting infrastructure and security arrangements for the students.
The blockade was lifted after police intervened and made the school principal announced that a meeting will be held tomorrow with the guardians. Cops from Entally police station will remain present in the meeting.
