Kolkata: Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee has said that if she is sent to jail by a Central government agency, she will consider that she has been jailed for participating in a fresh Freedom Struggle for the country.

Banerjee made the remarks while addressing the foundation day rally of her party’s student wing Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) at Dharmatala in Kolkata today 28 August.

“Today they are summoning my brother, tomorrow they will summon me. I am ready to go to jail: if that happens I will consider that I am going to jail for Freedom Struggle as the country is under subjugation again. But I will never bow down before BJP,” the Trinamool chief thundered.

The comment comes amidst the CBI recently arresting former Union minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and questioning several senior Trinamool leaders in connection with the Saradha Chitfund Scam.

Banerjee alleged that BJP is misusing Central agencies to muzzle the opposition and force them into subjugation.

“Leaders are being threatened arrest unless they join BJP. They are claiming to have a list of 107 Trinamool MLAs (eager to join BJP). Let them reveal seven names first! Things are not that easy: we are here fighting for Bengal.”

The Bengal CM alleged BJP is trying to enforce one-man rule by turning the country into a Presidential democracy.

“They don’t pay heed to anyone’s opinion and have bought the media. In Jammu & Kashmir, they are trying to rule with guns. All the leaders have been arrested so to suppress their voice. This is not the right way,” she said.
