Siliguri: INDIAN Railways have gifted Tripura capital Agartala with a direct weekly train to Madhya Pradesh.

This comes in less than a month of the people of Tripura electing a BJP government by voting out CPI-M after 25 years in power.

Northeast Frontier Railway today said that the 01666 / 01665 weekly special train will play between Agartala and Habibganj, a railway station in the suburb of Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal. The train will be in operation for about three months from 7 April-30 June. Its run may be extended further based on passenger patronage.

The special train will start from Agartala every Saturday at 2 pm and reach Habibganj on Monday 5 pm. In the return leg, the train will start from Habibganj at 5.30 pm every Wednesday and reach Agartala at 9.30 pm on Friday.

The train will have one AC-2 tier, two AC-3 tier, seven sleeper class, two general second class, and two SLR coaches. In all, there are 700 berths in the reserved classes besides seats in unreserved general second class coaches.

Although meant for Tripura, the train will partially benefit the Bengali-dominated Barak Valley in Assam because of its halt at Badarpur Junction.

The train will halt at Ambasa, Dharmanagar, Badarpur Jn, New Haflong, Chaparmukh, Guwahati, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Katihar, Naugachia, Khagaria, Begusarai, Barauni, Hajipur, Patliputra, Danapur, Ara, Buxar, Mugalsarai, Mirzapur, Chheoki, Satna, Maihar, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Gadarwara, Piparia, Itarsi and Hosangabad en route on  both ways.
