Kolkata, 22 September: PUTTING an end to the prolonged wait of thousands of job seekers, the West Bengal School Service Commission today finally issued a notice for personality test towards recruitment of upper primary teachers in schools all over the state.
This is even as a cloud of uncertainty has overcast the recruitment of primary teachers (Classes I-V) as an appeal has been filed in the Calcutta High Court today calling for a stay on the recruitment process on grounds of violation of norms.
Upper primary refers to classes VI-VIII, and going by the School Service Commission, there are around 14,088 tentative vacancies of assistant teachers that will be filled up from among those who qualified the upper primary teacher eligibility test held in 2011 and 2015.
The personality test will be conducted for recruitment of teachers in all subjects except physical education and work education.
The qualified candidates, both trained and untrained ones, have been advised to apply online to enrol for the personality test on the School Service Commission website www.westbengalssc.com. The application can be submitted from 05 pm tomorrow (23 September) to 05 pm of 03 October.
General and OBC candidates shall be required to pay a fee of Rs 250, while for SC/ST candidate the amount of fee is Rs 80. The fee shall have to be paid through e-challan.
