The admission committee of the varsity held a marathon meeting today and finalised the test dates. Going by this, the entrance test for English will be conducted on 21 July, for Bengali on 23 July, for philosophy, and political science on 24 July, and for comparative literature and history the test will be on 25 July.
The tests will be taken from 12 noon – 2 pm. There will be no multiple type questions.
The admission committee also announced that the merit lists following the entrance tests will be published on 3 August. The merit list will be prepared by giving 50:50 weight to the entrance test score and the marks obtained in class XII exam or its equivalent.
In case of economics, Sanskrit and sociology undergraduate courses for which no entrance test is being conducted and only the class XII exam score is taken into consideration, the merit lists will be published on 20 July.
Admission to all the undergraduate courses in the humanities will be from 8-10 August.
Registrar Chiranjib Bhattacharjee told news-persons that the varsity will not outsource the task of holding the entrance tests as was being planned earlier. Instead, the tests will be conducted by involving the teachers of the respective departments and the nitty-gritty for this will be finalised in a day or two.
