Howrah: With two goals coming from the boots of Marcus Joseph, Gokulam Kerala FC has recorded its second consecutive win the Durand Cup group matches.

In a match played at the Howrah Stadium today 14 August, the Kerala team beat Indian Air Force by 3:0.

Marcus made it clear right from the kick-off that he is here to display some brilliant football today. Seven-minute into the match, he took a long shot at Air Force which narrowly went over the goalpost.

Within a few seconds from this, his team mate Malemnganba took a shot for an early lead but Air Force goalie Shibinraj superbly saved it by tipping the ball over the bar.

Despite this, Kerala boys kept up the attack and two of its footballers ~ Huidrom Singh and Mohamed Irshad Thaivalappil ~ saw yellow card in the 24th and 26th minute for aggression on the field.

Marcus changed the mood by scoring the first goal of the match just a few minutes before the half-time. It was a long shot taken from a considerable distance.

The match broke for halt-time with the scoreline reading 1:0.

In the second half of the match, Kerala carried on with its domination and attack. In the 56th minute, Marcus took another shot at the goalpost but Air Force goalkeeper Shibinraj stopped it.

However, the ball at once slipped off his grab and Shibil Muhammed made no mistake in netting the second goal for Kerala on the rebound.

Marcus scored the third goal for Kerala in the 86th minute and ensured a 3:0 win for the team. He was adjudged man of the match.

Gokulam Kerala FC will now meet Trau from Manipur at the Howrah Stadium on 18 August. Air Force will meet Chennaiyin at the Mohun Bagan Ground on the same day.
