Kolkata: THE city today witnessed the unveiling of the largest Bengali film poster, which closer home is taller than the Qutub Minar (73 meters).
The poster belonging to the upcoming Bengali adventure movie Amazon Obhijaan is so gigantic that it had to be unveiled on the Mohun Bagan football ground in the heart of Kolkata.
This poster is larger than that of Baahubali (51,600 sq. ft. or 4794 sq. meters), which had created a world record in 2015 only to be superseded in 2016 by the poster of MSG: The Warrior Lion Heart (162,791.2 sq. ft. or 15,123.8 sq. meters) featuring arrested religious figure Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
But as regards a Bengali movie, the poster of Amazon Obhijaan is by far the largest and is likely to remain so for some time. It measures a whopping 60,800 sq.ft. or 5,640 sq. meters and thus is also taller than the Big Ben in London (96 meters) and the Statue of Liberty in New York (93 meters).
More than 80 workers and 100 man-hours were involved in creating and installing the massive poster that consists of 32 individual prints.
The poster was unveiled this afternoon in the presence of Amazon Obhijaan’s lead star Dev, director Kamaleswar Mukherjee, and production house Sri Venkatesh Films’ (SVF) founders Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni.
Amazon Obhijaan, which happens to be SVF’s 100th movie, is being produced at a budget of around Rs 20-crore. According to Mahendra Soni, this the highest budget for any Bengali movie produced ever.
A sequel to Chander Pahar (2013), Amazon Obhijaan will hit the silver screen on 22 December in multiple dubbed languages, including English. The English version has been named Amazon Adventure.
