Kolkata: Police have arrested a middle-aged man for wrongful confinement and assault on his teenage daughter’s estranged boyfriend.
Deepak Mondal was arrested last night after police rescued his daughter’s estranged boyfriend from Mondal’s residence at Moor Avenue off Tollygunge under Regent Park police station. Based on Mondal’s daughter’s counter-complaint, the boy too has been arrested.
The teenage boy, who hails from Howrah, developed an affair with Mondal’s teenage daughter in the course of attending a private tuition. A few months into the affair, a rift cropped up between them and the boy started dating another girl.
Getting a whip of this, Mondal’s daughter started stealthily following the boy and yesterday caught him red-handed while he was dating another girl at Rabindra Sarobor in south Kolkata. She at once confronted him and this led to a fierce brawl between them in the park itself.
In the course of this, the girl called up her father. Mondal came rushing and wished away the boy to his Moor Avenue residence and started assaulting him. The other girl alerted the boy’s mother about this.
The mother went to Regent Park police station and lodged an FIR against Mondal saying that he has abducted her son and has kept him in his residence. A team of cops subsequently raided Mondal’s house and rescued the boy from his confinement. Mondal was arrested at once.
Mondal’s daughter then lodged a counter-complaint against her estranged boyfriend for assault. Hence, police arrested him as well and produced in the juvenile justice board today.
