Kolkata: The Metro Railway in Kolkata has achieved a major feat of having replaced all the existing illuminations at its stations with LED lighting.

All the 24 functional Metro Railway stations in Kolkata right from Noapara to Kavi Subhash are now illuminated by 100 per cent LED lights.

“This will lead to the saving of 3.47-MU power annually and thus cut down the electricity bill by Rs 2.43-crore per annum,” said a Metro Railway spokesperson. “The initiative will also help reduce the emission of 3104.16 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.”
