Midnapore: A middle-aged tourist from Kolkata has died in unnatural circumstances in a hotel in sea beach destination Digha in East Midnapore.
This happened last night in a hotel located at New Digha area, which is preferred by tourists for taking a sea bath.
The deceased has been identified as Bijan Pal (43), a resident of Sushanta Pally under Haridevpur police station in south Kolkata. He had gone to Digha on Sunday (9 December) with a neighbourhood friend Tarak Mondal.
Accordingly, to Mondal, he and Pal were consuming alcohol in the hotel room till late yesterday night. During this, Pal suddenly complained of uneasiness and then fell unconscious.
This made Mondal stretch out Pal on a bed and call in the hotel staff for help. Pal was then taken to the Digha State General Hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Cops from Digha police station sent the dead body to Kanthi District Hospital for post-mortem. Pal’s family has alleged that he has been murdered as per a well thought out plan and Mondal has a role in this.
Following the allegation, police have registered a case for unnatural death and are questioning his friend Mondal for a clue.
