Kolkata: The Left Front on Friday released its second list of candidates for Lok Sabha polls in Bengal and said that it will release another list in the next few days.

The second list contains names of candidates for 23 seats. Earlier, Left Front had named candidates for two seats ~ Murshidabad and Raiganj ~ which it had won in 2014. The total number of Lok Sabha seats in Bengal is 42.

Left Front chairman Biman Bose said that to ensure that anti-BJP and anti-Trinamool votes do not get split; Left Front is exploring a seat-sharing understanding with the Congress.

“We shall announce the remaining candidates in the next few days. It is likely that in some of the remaining 17 seats, Left and Congress may put up unanimous candidates,” Bose said in a statement.

Among the 25 candidates that the Left has named so far, 15 are from the CPI-M, three each from CPI, RSP, Forward Bloc, and one is a Left backed Independent.
