Kolkata: Within days of him switching over to Trinamool, the daughter of former Left Front minister and Forward Bloc leader Paresh Adhikary has made it to the list of candidates for recruitment of post-graduate teachers in the state-run schools.
The name of Adhikary’s daughter Ankita Adhikary has from nowhere forayed at Waitlist-1 for recruitment of assistant teachers for political science in the female scheduled caste category.
This is even as according to several waitlisted candidates, her name was not anywhere in the list when the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (SSC) published it a few days ago. They have screenshots and printouts of the original list that was published on SSC website. The counselling for waitlisted candidates is to take place from 29-31 August.
In the original list, one Babita Barman (Roll No 22221627000720) was at WL-1 in a list of 72 candidates. With Ankita Adhikary (Roll No 22221627000220) making an entry, Barman has now got pushed to WL-2. All others who were listed after Barman too have got pushed down by a slot and the total number of candidates now stands increased to 73.
Waitlisted candidates will get recruited as assistant teachers when anyone among the candidates empanelled against the vacancies foregoes her claim. Hence, those at the top of the waitlist stand a higher chance. In case of political science, the number of empanelled candidates in SC female category is 29.
Asked about Ankita Adhikary’s entry into the waitlist, SSC chairperson Sharmila Mitra said that she has no knowledge of this. Paresh Adhikary said that he would not like to make a comment.
CPI-M’s student wing SFI has demanded a probe into this and it suspects that similar backdoor entries may have taken place in the candidate list for other subjects and categories.
