Kolkata: The counting of votes for the 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal has begun from 8 am today 23 May morning.

The votes are being counted in 58 counting centres spread all over the state. In Kolkata, the counting is being conducted in nine centres.

Counting of votes is also underway for the by-polls held in eight Assembly constituencies in Bengal ~ Uluberia East, Bhatpara, Krishnaganj, Nowda, Kandi, Habibpur, Islampur, and Darjeeling.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Trinamool had won 34 seats, Congress 4, CPI-M and BJP had won 2 seats each.

This time, almost all exit polls have predicted double-digit seats for BJP and a blank for the CPI-M.

1. COOCH BEHAR: 23.56 pm: Paresh Chandra Adhikari of the Trinamool has lost to Nishith Pramaik of the BJP by 54,231 votes. Trinamool had won the seat both in 2014 and in a by-poll in 2016. Forward Bloc in third position.

2. ALIPURDUAR: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Dasrath Tirkey of the Trinamool has lost to John Barla of the BJP by 243,989 votes. Barla was supported by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (Bimal). Mili Oran of RSP in third position.

3. JALPAIGURI: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Bijoy Chandra Barman of the Trinamool has lost to Jayanta Kumar Roy of the BJP by 184,004 votes. CPM in fourth position.

4. DARJEELING: 23.55 pm: Amar Singh Rai of the Trinamool has lost to Raju Bista of the BJP by 413,443 votes. BJP had won the seat with GJM support in 2009 and 2014. This election, GJM (Bimal) backed the BJP but GJM (Binay) backed the Trinamool. CPM in fourth position.

5. RAIGANJ: 23.23 pm: Trinamool’s Kanaialal Agarwal has lost to Debashree Choudhury of the BJP by 60,574 votes.  Sitting MP Md Salim of the CPM and Congress’ Deepa Dasmushi are in the third and fourth position, respectively.

6. BALURGHAT: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP Arpita Ghosh of the Trinamool has lost to Sukanta Majumdar of the BJP by 33,293 votes. RSP is in third position.

7. MALDA NORTH: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP Mausam Noor of the Trinamool has lost to Khagen Murmu of the BJP by 84,288 votes. Congress’ Isha Khan Choudhury is in the third position. Noor had won the seat in 2014 on Congress ticket but defected to Trinamool earlier this year.

8. MALDA SOUTH: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury alias Dalu of the Congress has won against Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury of the BJP by 8,222 votes. Moazzem Hossain of the Trinamool is in the third position.

9. JANGIPUR: 09.46 pm: Khalilur Reham of the Trinamool has won against Mafuza Khatun of the BJP by 245,782 votes. Sitting MP Abhijit Mukherjee of the Congress is in third position. Mukherjee is the son of former President Pranab Mukherjee.

10. BEHRAMPORE: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Adhir Ranjan Choudhury of the Congress has won against Apurba Sarkar of the Trinamool by 80,696 votes. BJP in third position.

11. MURSHIDABAD: 04.27 pm: Abu Taher Khan of the Trinamool has won against Abu Hena of the Congress by 226,417 votes. Sitting MP Badaruddza Khan of the CPM is in the third position.

12. KRISHNANAGAR: 02.45 am (24 May): Mahua Moitra of the Trinamool has won against Kalyan Choubey of the BJP by 63,218 votes. Trinamool had won the seat in 2014 but replaced the candidate this time. CPM is in the third position.

13. RANAGHAT: 23.53 pm: Rupali Biswas of the Trinamool has lost to Jagannath Sarkar of the BJP by 233,428 votes. Biswas is the widow of Satyajit Biswas, a Trinamool MLA who was assassinated earlier this year. In 2014, Trinamool had won this Lok Sabha seat. CPM is in the third position.

14. BONGAON: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP Mamata Thakur of the Trinamool has lost to her nephew Santanu Thakur of the BJP by 111,594 votes. CPM is in the third position.

15. BARRACKPORE: 23.56 pm: Sitting MP Dinesh Trivedi of the Trinamool has lost to Arjun Singh of the BJP by 14,857 votes. Singh, a former MLA, had defected from Trinamool to BJP in March. CPM is in the third position.

16. DUM DUM: 23.56 pm: Sitting MP Sougata Roy of the Trinamool has won against Samik Bhattacharya of the BJP by 53,002 votes. CPM’s Nepaldeb Bhattacharya is in the third position.

17. BARASAT: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar of the Trinamool has won against Mrinal Kanti Debnath of the BJP by 109,983 votes. Forward Bloc in third position.

18. BASIRHAT: 02.45 am (24 May): Film actress Nusrat Jahan of the Trinamool has won against Sayantan Basu of the BJP by 350,369 votes. CPM’s Pallab Sengupta is in the fourth position.

19. JOYNAGAR: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Pratima Mondal of the Trinamool has won against Ashok Kandari of the BJP by 316,775 votes. RSP’s Subhash Naskar is in the third position.

20. MATHURAPUR: 23.21 pm: Sitting MP Choudhury Mohan Jatua of the Trinamool has won against Shyamaprasad Haldar of the BJP by 203,974 votes. CPM is in the third position.

21. DIAMOND HARBOUR: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Abhishek Banerjee of the Trinamool has won against Nilanjan Roy of the BJP by 320,594 votes. Fuad Halim of the CPM is in the third position.

22. JADAVPUR: 23.55 pm: Film actress Mimi Chakraborty of the Trinamool has won against Anupam Hazra of the BJP by 295,239 votes. Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya of the CPM in third position. Trinamool had won this seat in 2009 and 2014 but this time changed the candidate.

23. KOLKATA SOUTH: 23.48 pm: Mala Roy of the Trinamool has won against Chandra Kumar Bose of BJP by 155,192 votes. Trinamool had won this seat in 2014 but changed the candidate this time. CPM in third position.

24. KOLKATA NORTH: 23.16 pm: Sitting MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay of the Trinamool has won against Rahul Sinha of the BJP by 127,095 votes. CPM in third position.

25. HOWRAH: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Prasun Banerjee of the Trinamool has won against Rantideb Sengupta of the BJP by 103,695 votes. CPM in third position.

26. ULUBERAI: 23.25 pm: Sitting MP Sajda Ahmed of the Trinamool has won against Joy Banerjee of the BJP by 215,359 votes. CPM in third position.

27. SERAMPORE: 23.23 pm: Sitting MP Kalyan Banerjee of the Trinamool has won against Debjit Sarkar of the BJP by 98,536 votes. CPM’s Tirthankar Roy is in the third position.

28. HOOGHLY: 23.58 pm: Sitting MP Ratna De Nag of the Trinamool has lost to Locket Chatterjee of the BJP by 73,362 votes. CPM in third position.

29. ARAMBAGH: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Aparupa Poddar of the Trinamool has won against Tapan Kumar Roy of the BJP by 1,142 votes. CPM’s Sakti Mohan Malik is in the third position.

30. TAMLUK: 23.24 pm: Sitting MP Dibyendu Adhikari of the Trinamool has won against Sidharthashankar Naskar of the BJP by 190,165 votes. CPM’s Sk Ibrahim Ali is in the third position.

31. KANTHI: 23.20 pm: Sitting MP Sisir Adhikari of the Trinamool has won against Debasish Samanta of the BJP by 111,668 votes. CPM in third position.

32. GHATAL: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP film star Dev of the Trinamool has won against Bharati Ghosh of the BJP by 107,973 votes. Ghosh is a former IPS officer, who was once close to the Trinamool. CPM in third position.

33. JHARGRAM: 02.45 am (24 May): Birbaha Soren of the Trinamool has lost to Kunar Hembram of the BJP by 11,767 votes. CPM’s Deblina Hembram is in the third position. Trinamool had won this seat in 2014.

34. MIDNAPORE: 23.55 pm: Sitting Rajya Sabha MP Manas Bhunia of the Trinamool has lost to Dilip Ghosh of the BJP by 88,952 votes. Ghosh is BJP Bengal unit president. Trinamool had won this seat in 2014. CPM in third position.

35. PURULIA: 02.45 am (24 May): Sitting MP Mriganko Mahato of the Trinamool has lost to Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato of the BJP by 204,732 votes. Congress’ Nepal Mahato is in the third position.

36. BANKURA: 23.55 pm: Minister Subrata Mukherjee of the Trinamool has lost to Subhash Sarkar of the BJP by 174,333 votes. CPM’s Amiya Patra is in the third position.

37. BISHNUPUR: 23.56 pm: Shyamal Santra of the Trinamool has lost to Saumitra Khan of the BJP by 78,047 votes. In 2014, Khan had won the seat on Trinamool ticket but defected to BJP earlier this year. CPM in third position.

38. BURDWAN EAST: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP Sunil Kumar Mondal of the Trinamool has won against Paresh Chandra Das of the BJP by 89,311 votes. CPM in third position.

39. BURDWAN DURGAPUR: 23.56 pm: Sitting MP Mamtaz Sanghamitra of the Trinamool has lost to SS Ahluwalia of the BJP by only 2,439 votes. CPM’s Abhas Ray Chaudhuri is in the third position.

40. ASANSOL: 23.55 pm: Yesteryear film star Moon Moon Sen of the Trinamool has lost to sitting MP Babul Supriyo of the BJP by 197,637 votes. CPM in third position.

41. BOLPUR: 02.45 am (24 May): Asit Kumar Mal of the Trinamool has won agaist Ramprasad Das of the BJP by 106,402 votes. Trinamool had won this seat in 2014 but its MP Anupam Hazra defected to BJP earlier this year. CPM in third position.

42. BIRBHUM: 23.55 pm: Sitting MP Satabdi Roy of the Trinamool has won against Dudh Kumar Mondal of the BJP by 88,924 votes. CPM in third position.

  1. HABIBPUR (MALDA): 06.29 pm: Joyel Murmu of BJP has won against Amal Kisku of Trinamool by 30,613 votes. CPM in third position.

2. ISLAMPUR (NORTH DINAJPUR): 02.37 pm: Abdul Karim Chowdhury of Trinamool has won against Saumyaroop Mondal of the BJP by 21,387 votes. CPM in fourth position.

3. NOWDA (MURSHIDABAD): 04.36 pm: Sahina Mamtaz Begum of Trinamool has won against Sunil Kumar Mondal of the Congress by 33,822 votes. BJP in third position.

4. ULUBERIA EAST (HOWRAH): 07.36 pm: Pratyush Mondal of BJP has lost to Idris Ali of Trinamool by 15,791 votes. CPM in third position.

5. BHATPARA (NORTH 24-PARGANAS): 02.38 pm: Pawan Kumar Singh of the BJP has won against former minister Madan Mitra of the Trinamool by 23,104 votes. CPM in third position.

6. KANDI (MURSHIDABAD): 04.36 pm: Gautam Roy of the Trinamool has lost to Shafiul Alam Khan of the Congress by 21,120 votes. BJP in third position.

7. DARJEELING: 07.36 pm: Neeraj Zimba of the BJP has won against Binay Tamang of the Trinamool-backed GJM by 46,538 votes. Jana Andolan Party in third position.

8. KRISHNAGANJ (NADIA): 06.36 pm: Asish Kumar Biswas of the BJP has won against Pramatha Ranjan Bose of the Trinamool by 30,866 votes. CPM in third position.
