Kolkata, 30 November: SHE failed to draw any front-ranking political leader of the cow-belt to her anti-demonetisation rally in Lucknow yesterday and Patna today.
Despite this, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee has termed her first round of anti-demonetisation campaign a success.
“It has been a successful one. People from Lalu-ji, Mulayamji came to the rallies; I also got to meet Akhilseh Yadav,” Banerjee told reporters after landing at Kolkata airport today evening. “The fight would continue,” she added.
Earlier in the day, the Trinamool chief addressed a public meeting at Gardani Bagh Dharnastha in Patna against demonetisation. No front-ranking leader such as Lalu Prasad or Nitish Kumar came but some second rung leaders from RJD joined her on the dais.
Her Lucknow rally yesterday too was bereft of any front-ranking leader from the Samajwadi Party although some state level leaders did attend the rally.
After the Patna rally today, the Bengal Chief Minister took an IndiGo flight for Kolkata and landed here in the evening. In the second round of her nationwide campaign against demonetisation, she is likely to visit Chandigarh next week.
