Siliguri: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reached Kalimpong on a four-day visit to the Darjeeling Hills.

Banerjee landed at Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri by an afternoon flight and straightway went to Kalimpong by road. A large number of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (Binay Tamang faction) cadres and supporters lined up by road at Kalimpong town accorded a warm welcome to her by waving party flags.

The Chief Minister is putting up in the state government-owned bungalow at Kalimpong’s Delo tonight. Tomorrow, Tuesday, she will chair a meeting of the 15 community development boards at Kalimpong. Apart from reviewing the activities of the boards, she is likely to announce another one or two development boards, including one for the Khas community.

On 30 May, Banerjee will chair a review meeting of the semi-autonomous Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). Given that Lok Sabha polls are due next year, she is likely to make some big-ticket development projects for the Hills or announce more funds for GTA.

On 31 May, CM is scheduled to descend to Siliguri and halt for the night at north Bengal branch secretariat Uttarkanya. She will return to Kolkata on 1 June.
